Source | International Journal of Engineering and Applied sciences pp 42 - 46 Vol 02. No. 4 -- 2013 |
Abstract |
Groundwater pollution is a worldwide phenomenon with potentially disastrous consequences. Most of the Earth’s liquid freshwater is found, not in lakes and rivers, but is stored underground in aquifers. Indeed, these aquifers provide a valuable base flow supplying water to rivers during periods of no rainfall. This paper presents a comprehensive study on the quality of surface and groundwater in an environmentally sensitive aquifer watershed strongly pressed by urban growth. The objective of the study was to assess the integrated effects of human activities and natural characteristics of aquifer environments on the quality of surface and groundwater using multivariate statistical techniques.... ... |

Source | International Journal of Engineering and Applied sciences pp 71 - 81 Vol 02. No. 3 -- 2013 |
Abstract |
Apparently no analytical method is available to analyze the bolt tension in a flanged pipe joint subjected to flexure taking into account the actual stress distribution at the joint. Conventionally, a method similar to the flexural analysis of beam is sometimes applied on the assumption that bolt tension is proportional to the distance from neutral axis which is far from the actual stress condition. In this paper, an investigation has been carried out to find the effects of various parameters relating to flanged pipe joint connection, so that a definite guideline on determining the bolt tension can be developed. In addition, results are compared with the conventional analysis.... ... |

Abstract |
This project aims to develop a closed-loop automated recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) with low maintenance and emphasizingon 3R (reuse, reduce and recycle) concept in water usage. Conical shaped tank with an inclined angle at is used as the culture tank. The drain is located at the bottom of the tank and the solid wastes can easily be removed automatically. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to study the fluid flows problems in the culture tank. Simulations were carried out to compare flow inlet structures which were tangential flow pattern and normal flow pattern. Normal inlet flow is poor in self-cleaning sinceits power is reduced. Tangential flow inlet is better in term of self-cleaning and its optimal speed is 20to 30 m/s.. ... |

An open-source and free computational tool for Design-Oriented Modeling and Simulation of MOS transistors is presented. Focusing on a friendly user’s interface, the software is implemented in PYTHON language and uses EKV2.6 compact transistor model, providing direct access to small sets of equations and parameters. Such features make this software ideal for transistor-level design purposes, enabling the designer to manipulate open-source equations and models, while achieving a good conformance and a continuous behavior of the transistor in all regions. Several options of output and transfer characteristics are implemented, allowing the designer not only to examine the parametrical behavior of the transistor but also the charge behavior of each one of its nodes..... |

Ferro magnetism is a property of certain metals and alloys, while Para magnetism is a property of all materials and water is not an exception. When passing a magnetic field, irrigation water gain a magnetic moment and retain it for 24 to 48 hrs. Magnetic treatment of irrigation water depends on magnetic field intensity, composition of dissolved salts and velocity of crossing a magnetron of 0.5 inch diameter. In this work magnetic activation of 3 different sources of irrigation water, namely: Ismailia canal; El-Salam canal; Abou-Sewer well, caused a little effect on water analyses. However magnetic treated water undergoes several changes in its physical properties. It also exerts several effects on the soil waterplant system.... ... |

Source | International Journal of Engineering and Applied sciences pp 23 - 35 Vol 02. No. 2 -- 2013 |
Abstract |
We propose to find simultaneously the flight schedule design and the aircraft routing, considering at the same time maintenance requirements. This approach leads to a closer global optimal solution than the typical sequential one, and it is practical for the case of airlines with a single fleet, such as many emerging young low-cost airlines. The formulation of this optimization problem is a Longest Path Problem with maintenance requirements as side constraints. It is based on a network diagram where a flight schedule is defined as the set of legs included in all routes to be flown. Then an algorithm to solve this integrated problem is proposed.. ..... ... |

INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF PLATE DIMENSIONS AND THICKNESSES ON THE IMPACT EFFECT OF A STEEL BALL |
Author | M. Murat Yavuz |
Source | International Journal of Engineering and Applied sciences pp 01 - 08 Vol 02. No. 1 -- 2013 |
Abstract |
In this study, impact effect of a ball is investigated on different dimensions of plate geometries by using computational impact analysis. All modelling and solution steps are done by ANSYS LS-DYNA package software. A plate is fixed from its side locations and a steel ball is thrown towards plate. Standard steel properties are used in material properties determination. Kinematic hardening plasticity model is selected for investigating the plasticity behaviour of ball and plates. Increasing the speed and decreasing the thickness of the ball cause to increase stresses. The highest elastic strains occur in the results of the biggest ball diameter test. Less stresses and more stable results are taken with increasing the thickness of plate. Plastic deformations occur only in the impact tests of the highest ball diameter and the lowest thickness of plate results ..... ... |
